Developmental Research focuses on early brain development and its relationship with severe mental illnesses. From pregnancy to early adolescence, developmental research hopes to understand how the brain develops; how that development is associated with changes in how children think, feel, and act; and to use that information to develop and test new treatments. Our main areas of research include children with and at-risk for schizophrenia, pregnant women with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, pregnant women without major diagnoses, and young infants.
