Psychiatry Clerkship - 3rd Year
IDPT 7040 Psychiatric Care - 4 wks
In their third year, students may elect to participate in a clinical psychiatry clerkship. Students work in small groups gaining experience with inpatients, emergency room cases and child psychiatric patients at the Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion (AIP), Veteran's Administration Medical Center (VAMC), Denver Health Medical Center (DHMC), The Children's Hospital, Mental Health Center of Denver, Boulder County Mental Health Centers, The Community Circle; or through the AHEC program at Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo, or Mountain Crest Hospital in Fort Collins where housing is provided. Patients are assigned under close individual supervision and students participate in the ongoing rounds, group therapy sessions and teaching conferences through the Department. While each site provides exciting and unique clinical experiences, all students will also cover the 10 core clinical experiences outlined in The Colorado Medical Student Log. Course Director: Michael Weissberg, M.D.; Associate Course Director: Robert Davies, M.D. Course Coordinator: Jennifer White, 303-724-7401.
