Research Interests
Dr. Tanabe is Associate Professor in Radiology and Psychiatry. She received training in diagnostic radiology at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical School and a clinical fellowship in Neuroradiology at UCSF. She completed a research fellowship in the MR Spectroscopy laboratory of Dr. Michael Weiner at San Francisco VA Medical Center. Her primary research interests since joining the faculty at University of Colorado Health Sciences have been in the following areas:
- Neuroimaging addiction studies
- Functional neuroimaging of decision making in substance dependence
- Neuroimaging of nicotine withdrawal
- Post-processing methods to improve signal detection sensitivity and specificity for clinical fMRI studies
- Bilateral spatial filtering to improve fMRI specificity and sensitivity in the presence of parenchymal abnormalities
- Pluralistic, automated de-trending methods for optimizing fMRI signal
- Functional neuroimaging of smooth pursuit eye movements
