WPSSI-III/Psychological Testing
The WPSSI-III or the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Inteligence, 3rd Ed. is a standardized assessment that measures a child's overall cognitive performance. This assessment is used to assess the general thinking and reasoning skills of children ages 2 to 7 years. During this assessment, your child will be asked to complete a variety of tests including block design, vocabulary, word reasoning, and symbol search. This assessment, which takes place when a child is approximately 4 years old, can be completed in approximately 1 to 2 hours. During this assessment, we will take lots of breaks so that your child will be able to focus and complete all the tasks. After the WPSSI-III is completed, a letter detailing the results of the assesment will be sent in the mail to parents. This letter, which gives parents an idea of a child's abilities, cannot be used for school entrance purposes.
The second half of the psychological testing will occur at a second visit where your child will sit in front of a large computer monitor and complete tasks associated with pictures that are on the computer screen. This visit will take approximately 1 hour in duration.
