Before entry into the program, applicants must complete or have completed an ACGME accredited psychiatry residency program that qualifies them to sit for the ABPN Psychiatry Board. 2. Applications are accepted from graduates of MD and DO programs, and from graduates of equivalent international medical programs who have ECFMG certification or have completed a Fifth Pathway Program and meet the eligibility criterion (#1 above). 5. Applicants must successfully pass a criminal background investigation (criteria specified in UCD and GMEC background investigation policies). 6. A Resident Selection Committee evaluates all eligible applicants. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of their preparedness and experience; academic credentials; ability and aptitude; communication and interpersonal skills, and, on personal qualities such as integrity, learning motivation, and work ethic. 7. Applicants for the geriatric psychiatry program should download and submit the formal application form via email and mail as instructed on the form. The application form must be typed, not hand-written, and must be accompanied by a small (2" x 2") face photo of the applicant.
