About the Program—Student Life

Anschutz Medical Campus

The Physical Therapy Program is housed in the Rocky Mountain region's leading academic medical center - The University of Colorado Denver (UCD) and is part of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the School of Medicine. Physical Therapy students routinely interact with other health professionals such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, physician assistants and researchers. Interdisciplinary courses, including anatomy, ethics and physiology are taken with students from other schools and graduate programs across campus. Click here for student comments.

Our new Education1 Building includes interprofessional student community spaces, multi-purpose classrooms, small group learning rooms, auditoriums, the Gross Anatomy lab, the Center for Advancing Professional Excellence, and teaching labs for the Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Pharmacy programs.   Words cannot fully describe the incredible transformation that has recently taken place for our faculty and students studying in the health professions. The facilities are extraordinary! The twin Education Buildings have been designed with every amenity. Generous space is provided for inter-professional student communities, featuring expansive lecture halls and computer labs. The architects have bathed the interior of the buildings with crisp Colorado sunshine, with ample entrances onto a large, grassy quad. This is truly an inspiring place for learning and for building a stronger sense of community among our health sciences colleagues.

The Student Assistance Office offers a variety of resources as well as a handbook of information.

Colorado Lifestyle

Colorado is home to one of the fittest populations in the US with less than 20% of the state's adults considered to be overweight. So what are all these people doing to stay active and healthy? Just about any outdoor activity you can think of, including skiing, boarding, hiking, biking, kayaking, camping and climbing.

The Rocky Mountains are just minutes away and offer an amazing diversity of mountain peaks and valleys, forests and rivers, as well as old mining and ghost towns. Denver also offers outstanding diversity in culture, music, nightlife, food, art and architecture along with major professional sports teams including football, basketball, hockey, soccer and basketball.

Denver is an amazing city, getting more days of sunshine than San Diego while staying cool and comfortable in the summer. In the spring and fall, Denver is particularly delightful as beautiful wildflowers and foliage abound. Winters in the city are quite mild, however if you like to participate in winter sports, a wonderland of opportunities can be enjoyed via a short drive into the mountains.
