Completed applications returned after March 15, 2007 will not be considered for a 2008 appointment. Your rankings must be submitted to the National Resident Matching Program by (Date to be announced by NRMP). The following must be completed through ERAS before your application will be considered.

Interviews

Interviews are required for match list ranking. Once the application, personal statement, and letters of recommendation are on file, you may be invited for an interview. Applicants invited to interview are encouraged to attend one of the group interview days. For applicants who cannot make one of these dates, individual interview days will be arranged whenever possible.

Group interview days begin at 7:30 AM and last until around 4:00 PM. The day consists of attendance at our divisional grand rounds conference (7:30-8:30), a group meeting with division leadership (9:00-10:00), morning interviews (10:00 - 11:30), lunch with fellows and junior faculty (11:30-12:30) afternoon interviews (12:30-2:00) and an optional tour of the new Fitzsimons campus (2:30-4:00). Additional interviews and tours of some of the facilities can be arranged for interested applicants. In addition, we strongly encourage you to arrive early and attend our pre-interview dinner on Wednesday night, where you will have a chance to meet the current fellows and ask questions in an informal setting.

All interviews should be scheduled and confirmed at least two weeks in advance (contact Melissa Jordan at Melissa.Jordan@uchsc.edu or call 303-315-0511). We plan to complete all interviews by May 1st. Please let us know if you have a particular interest in meeting any individual faculty member (see Synopsis of Faculty Research Areas). Also, let us know if you have personal issues (e.g. spouse employment, ethnic diversity, schools, etc.) that you would like to discuss on your interview day. We realize that your ability to move to Denver may depend heavily on some of these issues.

Questions

If questions arise, do not hesitate to contact the Program Coordinator, Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine- (303) 315-0511.

Notification of Acceptance

Notification of your match with a training program to which you have applied and ranked will reach you on (Date to be announced by NRMP). This indication of a "match" is a firm commitment which will be immediately confirmed in writing.

Recruitment of Minority Individuals

The National Research Service Award (NRSA) program funds the preparation of qualified individuals for careers in biomedical and behavioral research. The primary considerations in evaluating plans for research training are the scientific merit of the proposed program (trainee, sponsor, and content) and the projected needs for laboratory and/or clinical investigators in particular areas of research. Within the framework of this longstanding commitment to excellence and relevance, it is important that attention also be given to recruiting individuals from minority groups that now are under-represented nationally in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.
