Students applying for admission to the Program in Reproductive
Science should have a Bachelaureate degree or its equivalent,
and have taken the general Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Applicants typically have achieved a GRE score of at least 1200 for combined verbal and quantitative exams, and an Analytical Writing score of 3.5 or higher. However, the GRE is only one component of evaluations and lower scores do not disqualify an applicant. Specific
Subject Test Scores are not required. Applicants whose native
language is not English must submit scores from the Test of
English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. Applicants should
have taken chemistry, biochemistry, biology,
molecular biology or a related subject at the undergraduate level. Courses
in developmental biology, genetics and physics are desirable
but not required.
Three application mechanisms are available for students interested
in pursuing Ph.D. training in the Program in Reproductive
Sciences:
- Applicants may apply directly to the Program.
- Applicants may apply to the umbrella program in Biomedical
Sciences at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Students who select a mentor who is a member of RPSC may
join the RPSC program in their second year.
- Applicants may apply to the Medical Scientist Training
Program (MSTP). Students who select a mentor who is a member
of RPSC may join the RPSC program in their third year.
Details of the Admission process
Because the Biomedical Sciences Program and the Medical
Scientist Training Program have a limited number of positions
available, we encourage students who are interested in the
areas of research within the Graduate Program in Reproductive
Science to also apply directly to RPSC.
Students must submit an online
application. Applications are not accepted by mail.
The complete application will include 2 copies of official
transcripts from each institution, three or more sealed letters
of reference, completion of the uniform graduate application
parts I and II and the Colorado residency questionnaire, and
a $65 application fee. GRE scores must be submitted directly
by the GRE to Institution Code R4877, Department Code 0208.
Applications must be received by Jan 1st; earlier submissions are encouraged. Successful
applicants will be interviewed in January or February. Lodging,
food and travel for interviewed applicants will be provided
by the program. International applicants will be interviewed
by phone or asked to interview with one of our colleagues
in their region. Accepted applicants will be notified shortly
after interviewing and must notify us of their acceptance,
or rejection, of our offer for admission by April 15.
