Research Interests:
Dr. Caplan is a rheumatologist and Staff Physician at the University of Colorado Hospital as well as the Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Science/Health Services Research and the University of Colorado. Dr. Caplan engages in clinically-oriented epidemiologic and health service research within the field of pharmacoepidemiology and autoimmunity/rheumatology. Areas of interest include retrospective analysis of databases, as well as prospective data collection and analysis. Dr. Caplan’s has worked with the National Data Bank for Rheumatic Diseases, focusing on the pharmacoepidemiology of steroids in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), as well as pulmonary complications of RA and its treatment.
