Description in a couple of paragraphs about research interests and/or clinical trial interests:
My main interest is in clinical trials regarding Systemic Sclerosis and Raynaud’s Phenomenon. I am interested in the natural history and effect of therapeutic interventions in Systemic Sclerosis and Raynaud’s Phenomenon. Over the last 12 years I have been involved in looking at D-Penicillamine, Ketotifen, Relaxin, and Cyclophosphamide in Systemic Sclerosis. I have also studied Iloprost and an a-2-adrenoceptor inhibitor, OPC-28326 in Raynaud’s Phenomenon.
My second interest is in patients with concomitant Hepatitis C infection and an autoimmune disease, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis. We are interested in seeing what effect disease modifying agents used to treat rheumatoid arthritis have on hepatitis C in these patients. Similarly, we are interested in what effect treatments, such as a-interferon and Ribaviron, have on patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
I am a founding member of the Scleroderma Clinical Trials Consortium
