ROCKY MOUNTAIN
Advancing healthy lifestyles . . . Preventing chronic disease The Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center is one of 33 prevention research centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The RMPRC is located both at the University of Colorado Denver and in our partner community of Alamosa, Colorado in the San Luis Valley. The RMPRC is a member of the Prevention Research Centers Program, supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cooperative agreement number U48-DP-000054. The mission of the national PRC program is to connect science and practice through a network of academic, public health, and community partnerships engaged in scholarly, community-based prevention research, research translation, and education. The PRC is involved in many exciting projects: a home visitation program in the San Luis Valley to help prevent diabetes in families that already have a family member with diabetes, an elementary school project in the SLV where schools make environmental changes to increase physical activity and promote healthy eating. We also have Special Interest Projects (SIPs). To learn more about these projects and others, select them on the site map under ‘current projects’. |
