5-HTP

(5-hydroxy tryptophan)

The following solution is used for IP injection one hour before perfusion.

32mg 5HTP (Sigma)

50ml 1N NaOH 32mg = 6.4mg

950ml 0.5M PB 5mL mL

4 mL dH₂O

The pH should be 7.4

Want 80mg/kg for a mouse (0.08mg/g).

For example:

a 20g mouse would need 250ml of the above solution via the following formula:

0.08 mg _X mL _X 20g = 250ml

g 6.4mg

(Change the number in bold with the weight of each mouse to determine volume of injection)
