To Calculate the magnification of a printed picture from a negative obtained using on e of the microscopes in the finger lab and standard magnification lenses.
Obtain from Barbels photographic storage area the Magnification Negatives. From the appropriate lens and magnification tube used, read the final magnification from the ruler used in the picture. It is written down on a sheet stored with the negatives.
Now measure the final print size and divide by the size of the negative in the same orientation (longitudinally the negative is 35 mM long). This gives the magnification due to enlargement when printing.
Multiply the lens magnification by the printing enlargement magnification and the result is the total magnification.
A 10 uM scale bar length can be calculated by multiplying 10um by the magnification. The scale bar would then be affixed to the final print at this size.
