Tax-Free Ethanol Program

General Information:
All researchers using tax-free ethanol must submit the Agreement Form to the Environmental Health & Safety Department, and properly maintain an Inventory Form. Both of these forms can be downloaded below.
Please keep in mind that an inventory sheet is NOT required for “denatured” ethanol which is unfit for human consumption.  Tax-Free Ethanol should NOT be purchased whenever denatured ethanol would be sufficient.  Denatured ethanol may be purchased from Fisher Scientific at approximately the same price as tax-free ethanol.

Labs no longer need to provide a current copy of their inventory to purchase additional ethanol.  If EH&S does not have a current inventory from the last inventory due date (March 31, June 30, September 30, December 31), researchers WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL ETHANOL.

Distribution:

RC1: Ethanol distribution takes place every Thursday from 2:00 - 3:30 PM in RC-1 North, Room 1203 (P18-1203). This room is located right off the loading dock. The room's phone extension is x43142, but the phone is not normally staffed outside distribution hours.
RC2: Ethanol distribution takes place every Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM in Room 1303 (P15-1303). This room is located next to the Mail Room at the loading dock.

You must have the following items to purchase tax free ethanol from EH&S:

1)     Employees purchasing tax free ethanol MUST have the following:
--UC Denver Identification Badge,
--must be at least 21 years old and
--have a current drivers license or identification proving age (employees may be carded).
2)     Bring properly completed I.N. (not an I.O.) form with correct 8-digit speed type and signatures.
3)     Provide the name of the Principal Investigator and lab phone number the tax free ethanol is being purchased for.
4)     Provide the building name and location where the tax free ethanol will be stored.
5)     Sign the EH&S purchase agreement (also available below as a down-load, or obtain a copy in person at the distribution). By signing this form you agree to provide inventories for the tax free ethanol purchased, properly secure the containers in a LOCKED, flammable-rated storage cabinet and to use the tax free ethanol for research purposes ONLY.  The EH&S purchase agreement only needs to be signed the first time a lab is purchasing tax free ethanol or when the lab contact information for tax free ethanol changes.

Any questions about tax-free ethanol can be addressed to Carissa Gipe at x40127 or e-mail Carissa.Gipe@ucdenver.edu.
