Environmental Health and Safety
Radiation Safety Modular Training Program

All persons working with radioactive materials at UC Denver must complete the modular training program required by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the UC Denver Committee on Ionizing Radiation.

Modules 1, 3, 4, and 5 : Exam ONLY. Exam sessions are scheduled approximately every six weeks at the Fitzsimons campus. Module 3 and 5 are open book exams.  Module 5 is only required for Principal Investigators.

Module 2 : One hour lecture/review of central themes followed by an exam.   Exam sessions are scheduled approximately every three weeks alternating between campuses.  Please bring a scientific calculator for the Module 2 exam.  Careful study of the material before attendance is necessary as the lecture/review will not cover all the material users are responsible to be aware of, in order to successfully pass the exam.

Examinees should obtain a copy of the Radiation Safety Study Manual, available from your P.I., from HSD at the Cooling Tower, or from this web site, and carefully study the site-specific information before attempting the exams. Click this link to download the Radiation Safety Training Manual:

Please choose an examination period from the schedule posted below and fill out the registration form with the appropriate information.

If you are unable to attend the scheduled sessions for Modules 1, 3, 4 & 5 :  If you are on the 9th Ave. & Colorado Blvd. Campus, you may arrange for a walk-in session at the Cooling Tower, 4405 E. 8th Ave. (between Birch & Clermont Streets), by calling Chastiti Etherton at 5-5895 or by e-mailing her at Chastiti.Etherton@uchsc.edu If you are on the Anschutz Medical Campus, you may e-mail EH&S at radtraining@uchsc.edu  to request a walk-in session.
Because Module 2 sessions involve hands-on instruction, Module 2 is not offered on a walk-in basis.

Completing the Modules in numerical order is recommended, but NOT required.
