Certificate Program for School Health Coordinator

Course Description:  This certificate program prepares school health personnel to coordinate school health programs.  The basic certificate program is one week in duration.  In subsequent summers, supplemental seminars will be available to allow coordinators to remain current in this field.

Course Objectives:  Upon completion of the one week School Health Coordinator program, school health personnel will be able to:

  1. Conduct a school/community needs/risk assessment and use these findings to develop a strategic plan for a coordinated school health program.
  2. Identify the staffing requirements for a coordinated school health program using a differentiated practice model.
  3. Implement staff development efforts that will increase the effectiveness of the school health program.
  4. Initiate the use of evidence-based practice guidelines, minimum data sets, and continuous quality improvement efforts in the operation of the program.
  5. Conduct school health evaluations using health and education indicators.
  6. Collaborate with school and community colleagues and organizations to establish partnerships that will enhance school health and increase the resources available for this work.

Registration Fee:  $850.00 (includes materials listed below)

For credit, the above fee is in addition to the tuition noted below.

Undergraduate:  $483 for 3 credit hours (in-state)

                         $1686 for 3 credit hours (out-of-state)

Graduate:          $636 for 3 credit hours (in-state)

                         $2193 for 3 credit hours (out-of-state)
