School Health Evaluation Services (SHES) provides technical assistance, training and onsite services to educational administrators, health professionals and community groups in managing data related to all aspects of school health services. The data may include school health records; health needs assessment/surveys, program evaluation and report generation, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
Needs Assessment
SHES staff will work with educational administrators, school health personnel
and community groups to design/select survey instruments, develop protocols
and select samples for assessment of student health needs. Data entry and
data analysis of survey responses are also available through SHES.
Community Surveys
Technical assistance will be provided to school and community groups, and/or
state agencies to conduct surveys of health problems and priority areas. Samples
of existing surveys and planning processes will be made available.
Data Management
SHES staff will review existing record systems and help establish systems
that provide schools, state agencies and other organizations with accurate,
reliable and easily accessible information regarding student health status,
health service utilization and health outcomes.
Program Evaluation
Technical assistance is available to educational administrators, health personnel
and community groups who are developing the evaluation component for special
health services and health promotion projects. Staff is also available to
carry out evaluation of health service programs.
Statistical Analysis
SHES can perform basic or advanced statistical analysis on data/surveys already
completed by the district to determine the statistical significance and assure
validity of findings to be presented to educational decision makers and health
policy groups.
Report Generation
Assistance is available for technical review of reports generated by local,
state, regional or national groups in the area of school health services.
SHES staff may also be contracted to develop reports and policy documents
