Assessment of your progress is accomplished in a manner that is congruent with the goals of the curriculum. The FDC uses a broad array of methods appropriate to assess all competencies fairly. The evaluation will take place in the early spring at the Center for Studies in Clinical Excellence at the Fitzsimons campus. This type of evaluation has taken on even more importance given the fact that you will be required to take a similar style exam during part II of the National Boards. FDC is a Pass/Fail course The different activities of the course are weighted differently. Much of your grade depends upon your active participation. Professionalism is an important component of your evaluation. The different activities are weighted as follows: First Year Students - MSI Continuity clinic 25% Communications curriculum 20% Physical examination curriculum 20% Professionalism 20% CPE/OSCE 15% TOTAL 100%Second Year Students - MSII Continuity clinic (including the required H & P and presentation) 25% Communications curriculum 20% Physical examination curriculum 20% Clinical Practice Exam 15% Professionalism 15% Patient write-up 5% TOTAL 100%Third Year Students - MSIII Continuity clinic 70% Hidden curriculum small group 30% TOTAL 100%
80% is required to pass the course. If you do not receive a passing grade, you will be given the opportunity to remediate your deficiencies.
