Study Drugs
At study entry the subjects will be randomized to one of the following arms:
Arm A (immediate intensification): At week 0, continue entry regimen (at least
2 NRTIs + PI or NNRTI [not provided by the study]) and add raltegravir for
12 weeks. At week 12, stop raltegravir and add placebo for 12 weeks.
Arm B (delayed intensification): At week 0, continue entry regimen (at least
2 NRTIs + PI or NNRTI [not provided by the study]) and add placebo for 12
weeks. At week 12, stop placebo and add raltegravir for 12 weeks.
Eligibility
Criteria
HIV-1
infected men and women on PI- or NNRTI-containing antiretroviral therapy (ART)
for at least 12 months before study entry with plasma HIV-1 RNA <50 copies/mL
and CD4+ T-cell count >=200 cells/mm3.
