RESEARCH INTERESTS:

My laboratory is involved in understanding drug metabolism of drugs used in infectious diseases. Recently we have been working on understanding the enantiomeric differences in CYP3A4 and antifungal activities of ketoconazole. In addition, we have been studying the drug-drug interaction issues with HIV protease inhibitors and other drugs used therapeutically in the HIV-infected subjects. The laboratory is also involved in the importance of plasma protein binding of drugs used in HIV infection.

LAY SUMMARY OF RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:

I am interested in improving the safety and effectiveness of drugs that we use in the treatment of AIDS. My laboratory studies drug metabolism in people and also in the test tube. Overall goal is to avoid side effects of drugs and to maximize the effectiveness of drugs that we use in the treatment of AIDS.
