We gratefully acknowledge the many donors who have contributed more than $64,300,000 for 27 Endowed Chairs that reside in the Department of Medicine. In addition, Department of Medicine faculty hold 10 Endowed Chair positions in which the endowment is managed outside the Department (Cancer Center, Webb-Waring Institute, Colorado Prevention Center), enabling us to pursue new understanding and treatment of diseases that are afflicting millions of Americans.
Important areas where we have no endowed professorships are cystic fibrosis, diabetes mellitus, Parkinson's Disease, vascular biology, obesity, personalized medicine and inflammatory bowel diseases including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's Disease, to mention a few.
We must solidify our research funding base in the 21st Century - to bring the research advances of our dedicated and energetic scientists to the patient, and to translate these findings into effective preventions, therapies, and even cures.

To establish a Research Chair, the Regents of the University of Colorado require a gift of $1.5 million.
