Department of Medicine at the
University of
Colorado Denver
Education
Our excellent housestaff training program provides residents with a diversity of experiences, flexibility to tailor training to educational and career goals, an involved and committed faculty, and, most important, an outstanding group of residents. An experienced Program Director (Suzanne Brandenburg) along with five Associate Program Directors, all with designated areas of emphasis (Karen Chacko-Primary Care, Jeff Glasheen-Hospitalist training, Virginia Borges-Research, Mel Anderson-Lifelong learning, and Didi Mancini-Mentorship) ensure a vibrant program. Our program addresses ACGME competencies, includes primary care, categorical and hospitalist tracks, and provides the best possible education and mentoring/career counseling for our residents. The Department of Medicine is also committed to medical student education and has a student affairs office within the department that serves our medical students. Eva Aagaard, Vice Chair of the Department for Education, directs our student program and is developing an Academy of Medical Educators.
