Bio
Following his graduation and internship from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dr. Leong obtained a Master degree in Medical Science (Physiology) from the University College Dublin. He then began an internal medicine residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia where he also served as chief resident. He has just completed his fellowship at University of Colorado where he has been appointed an Assistant Professor.
Research
Dr. Leong is a member of the Developmental Therapeutics (Phase I clinical trials) and Gastro-Intestinal Malignancies Program. His areas of interest are investigating novel agents such as inhibitors of the insulin like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R) and activators of the death receptors (DR4,DR5) and their potential use in GI malignancies. Clinically, Dr. Leong is a principal investigator or co-investigator of several Phase I and Gastro-intestinal clinical trials. In the laboratory, we are investigating the actions of these novel agents in colorectal cancers.
