Micol S. Rothman, M.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Rothman joined the faculty of the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes in July 2006. She received a B.A. with honors in classics at Brown University in Providence, RI in 1993. She received her M.D. at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York in 1999. She went on to do her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD and completed this training in 2002. She then spent a year working as an internist and teaching medical students at Hubert Kairuki Memorial University in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Dr. Rothman completed her fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and began working in the Endocrinology Clinic at the Anschutz Outpatient Pavillion of University Hospital in 2006. She sees patients with a variety of endocrine problems, with a particular focus on reproductive disorders. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. Dr. Rothman also is certified in Clinical Densitometry and reads bone density studies at University Hospital.
Dr. Rothman serves primarily as clinical faculty, however, her research interests include the role of testosterone in various disease states with protocols examining the effect of traumatic brain injury on testerone levels and as well as the role of insulin resistance in erectile dysfunction in men with sleep apnea. She is participating in the development of new assays for testosterone at University Hospital. She is also involved in the teaching of residents and medical students and serves as an attending for the Endocrinology Service at University Hospital.
