International Medical Graduates
- International Medical Graduates (IMG's) are required to be ECFMG certified at the time of your application or far enough along in the application process that you will receive certification no later than February 1, 2009.
- We require clinical experience in a U.S. healthcare system. We do not count observerships or research as clinical experience.

- What is your application deadline?
- We begin accepting applications September 1, 2008.
- The application deadline is November 15, 2008.
- Applications for PGY-1 positions are only accepted via ERAS.
- When are your interviews?
- We begin interviewing November 10, 2008 and continue until January 23, 2009.
- Are USMLE exam scores mandatory?
- Non-US medical school applicants must pass steps 1 and 2 in order to be ECFMG certified.
- Do you offer preliminary positions?
- Yes
- Do you hire outside of the NMRP match?
- No
- Do you offer visiting resident/medical student rotations?
- We have limited room for learners, therefore we only allow medical students and resident physicians currently enrolled in U.S., LCME accredited institutions to apply for visiting rotations. Go to the University of Colorado website for more information.
- Do you have a minimum USMLE score?
- Yes. We look for scores of greater than 200 on Step 1 and 2. We expect that individuals will pass the exams in their first attempt.
- Is US clinical experience required for international graduates?
- We require clinical experience in a U.S. healthcare system. We do not count observerships or research as clinical experience.
- How long can I be out of medical school and still apply for your program?
- We look for individuals who have graduated within the past 5 years.
- Are there any special requirements for international medical grads?
- We require IMG's to be ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) certified at the time of your application or far enough along in the application process that you will receive certification no later than February 1 of the year in which you plan to match.
- What types of visas do you sponsor?
- Residents in our program must be a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a refugee or asylee, or possess the appropriate documentation to allow the Resident to legally train at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. Any Visa status request must be handled on a case by case basis.
- How many IMG's are in your program?
- In last year’s match we accepted 48 interns into our 3 year program none of whom are IMGs.
- Do you participate in the couples match?
- Yes.
- Do you support the ABIM research pathway?
- Yes.
