Geoffrey Connors, M.D.
Geoffrey Connors came to Colorado via a circuitous route. Originally from upstate New York, he attended college at the University of Michigan, receiving a degree in Biological Psychology and Cognitive
Studies and a minor concentration in Philosophy. After a 1 ½ year hiatus in the mountains of Colorado spent snowboarding, it was on to medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans and finally back to Colorado for residency. When not working Geoff still enjoys getting out to the mountains for some snow sports in the winter, fly fishing, camping and hiking in the summer or just relaxing with a good book at a local coffee shop. Last year he was spotted struggling through the inaugural Colfax Marathon. Geoff is the chief resident this year at the VA for the first six months followed by another half year at Denver Health. He will be headed to Johns Hopkins next year to begin a Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship.
Kelsey Gray, M.D.
Kelsey Gray was born and raised in Southern California. She attended Mills College in Oakland, California where she majored in tennis, Biology, and Anthropology/Sociology. She subsequently worked as a research assistant in the Medical Technology Program at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for several years. Kelsey then matriculated into the UC Berkeley-UC San Francisco Joint Medical Program earning both a Master of Science and a Medical Degree. Next year, she will be a fellow in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine program at the University of Colorado. Interests outside of medicine include hiking, playing tennis, golfing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family. Kelsey’s primary interests as a chief medical resident are education, career mentorship, and well-being.
Rachel Groff, M.D.
Rachel Groff grew up in Colorado Springs, CO and attended the University of olorado at Boulder where she received a degree in
Mathematics and Chemistry. After graduation, she worked for pharmaceutical companies in Boulder as a chemist. She then pursued a bachelor degree in nursing at Regis University in Denver, CO. She practiced nursing in the I.C.U. at Denver Health Medical Center for 7 years. To expand her abilities to take care of patients, she attended medical school at the University of Colorado Health Sciences. Outside of medicine, she enjoys scuba diving, hiking and spending time with her husband and new son, Chase. Her primary motivation as Chief Medical Resident is medical student education and resident quality of life.
Justin Hopkin, M.D.
Justin Hopkin, MD grew up in Basin, Wyoming, and attended
the University of Wyoming where he received a degree in Zoology/Physiology. He attended the University of Washington School of Medicine. Justin, one of our former Primary Care Tract residents, will work in Lander, Wyoming, after completing his chief year. While outside of the hospital, Justin enjoys spending time with his wife, Courtney, and their two children, Avery and Grady. He also likes to sneak in golfing, biking, and volleyball whenever possible. During his chief year, Justin’s focus will be on maintaining resident satisfaction while facilitating student and resident education
Christopher Lieu, M.D.
Chris Lieu, MD was born and raised in Mooresville, NC and attended the University of North Carolina where he received a degree in biology. He
attended medical school at Wake Forest University. After completing his chief medical residency, he will be start a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Outside of the hospital, Chris enjoys playing the violin, hiking, golfing, snowboarding, playing basketball, and mountain biking with his lovely fiancée, Caitlyn. During his chief resident year, Chris is focused on resident and medical student education and has a particular interest in career mentoring.
Edward Stenejhem, M.D.
Eddie Stenehjem, MD, grew up in Rochester, MN. He attended the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse where he received a degree in biomedical biology and chemistry. He then attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine. While in residency Eddie spent 3 months in Peru earning a diploma in tropical medicine from the Gorgas course. Outside of medicine Eddie enjoys biking, skiing and spending time with his wife Sarah anddog Jack. After completing his chief medical residency, he will travel to South America to learn Spanish andput his tropical medicine knowledge to use. His primary motivation as chief medical resident is clinical education of residents and medical students.
