Colorado Brain Attack (Stroke) Center
Brain Attack is the new term for stroke being used to indicate the urgency of the problem with this disease and particularly in the potential therapies available for the acute treatment of stroke. The CBAC is a comprehensive multi-disciplinary effort at the University Hospital to provide brain attack patients with the best care possible in the state of Colorado, using, developing and teaching the latest in therapies. We incorporate the whole range of care from paramedics and ambulance companies to emergency departments, intensive care units, hospital wards and rehabilitation. There is also extensive outpatient care and stroke prevention in clinics and screenings. Personnel Members come from the departments of emergency medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, neuropsychology, nursing, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. CBAC Personnel Patient Care The University Hospital has the latest technologies and care innovations used in the treatment of brain attack. CBAC Patient Care Research The University of Colorado Denver Neurocritical Care and Stroke Program, the first of its kind in the Rocky Mountain region, is a key component to the research activities of CBAC. We have several active clinical trials in progress, including therapies to cure stroke and to prevent damage to the brain as well as different attempts at preventing new strokes from occurring. CBAC Research Education Members of the CBAC are very involved in educational activities at all levels and give lectures and teach courses throughout the country to: paramedics, nurses, students, physicians and the community. Also, many are involved in important positions in local and national organizations.
