Major Research Focus:

Before entering the Tyler laboratory, my research interests were focused on the involvement of opioidergic systems in HIV-associated dementia. Research was aimed at mostly in vitro striatal neuron systems and the interaction of the HIV virotoxins Tat and gp120 with endogenous and exogenous opiates to induce neurotoxicity.

My primary interests have since diverted to that of pathways of reovirus induced cell death in neural systems. The role of reactive oxygen species and excititoxic pathways are now of leading interest.
