Basic Science Research:

Mechanisms of viral pathogenesis, with focus on role of virus-induced apoptosis using in vitro and in vivo models of viral myocarditis, encephalitis, and myocarditis

  • Host-pathogen interactions
  • Genomic and Proteomic approaches to the delineation of signal transduction pathways essential for viral pathogenesis
  • Development of novel antiviral (anti-apoptotic) strategies for treatment of severe viral infection (myocarditis, encephalitis, hepatitis)

Clinical Expertise/Clinical Research:

  • Infectious Diseases Consultation for immunocompetent and immunocompromised Patients
  • Specific expertise in diagnosis and treatment of CNS Infection: Viral Encephalitis and Meningitis
  • Clinical Application of PCR to diagnosis of infectious diseases, with focus on use of CSF PCR for diagnosis of CNS Infection
