Application

For fellowship applicants who will start their fellowships in July 2009, applications will be made through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), and we will participate in the inaugural Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship match administered by the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). A complete timeline for the application and match program is provided on the ERAS website, at http://www.aamc.org/students/eras. Additional useful information on the application process is available on the website of the Organization of Neonatal Training Program Directors (ONTPD). Deadline for application for the 2009 academic year is May 18, 2008, but we encourage applicants to apply as soon as they know they are interested in our program.

To qualify for admission to our program, applicants must have successfully completed a 3-year ACGME-accredited residency program in Pediatrics. Through ERAS, we require that applicants submit a number of supporting documents. These include at least 3 letters of recommendation (including one from your Residency Director), your USMLE (or COMLEX/ECFMG) transcript, and a personal statement addressing your interest in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. In lieu of a typical narrative letter of recommendation, we strongly encourage the use of the standard Letter of Recommendation form developed by the ONTPD for those who write your letters of recommendation. This form is available on the ONTPD website, on the “fellowship applicants” page under “NPM LoR”. There are several accommodations located near The Children's Hospital, but we have a couple of suggestions to narrow your options down. We also have listed some hotels if you are interested in staying downtown to get a feel for the city. While the amenities close to the hospital are approximately 15 minutes away, staying in the city will increase your travel time to about 30 minutes.

Complimentary shuttle service is provided at the Renaissance and Double Tree hotels. Another form of transportation from the airport to various hotels is the Super Shuttle: 303-370-1300.
