Clinical Interests Dr. Maroni’s primary areas of interest include a broad scope of urologic surgery and treatments.  Dr. Maroni is also Fellowship trained in Urologic Oncology. Dr. Maroni sees patients with a variety of urologic cancers and conditions.

Bio

Dr. Paul D. Maroni, MD has been recruited as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Urology at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, beginning July of 2007. Dr. Maroni was raised in Naperville, Illinois and received his Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Virginia. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Medicine and completed his residency in urology at the University of Colorado Denver.  Dr. Maroni completed a fellowship in urologic oncology at Indiana University under the directorship of Michael Koch, MD.  The fellowship experience was heavily weighted in robotic surgery for prostate cancer and surgery for metastatic testicular cancer and bladder cancer.


Dr. Maroni’s primary clinical interest is urologic oncology with an emphasis on prostate and testicular cancer. He also specializes in minimally invasive treatments for prostate cancer including robotic prostatectomy and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). As an active member of the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), he is dedicated to enrolling patients in clinical trials that will improve the treatment of urologic cancers.  He is also an investigator for injection treatments for the management of urinary symptoms caused by benign prostate enlargement.  Dr. Maroni has authored numerous clinical papers, and has presented nationally on various aspects of urologic oncology. The Division of Urology at the University of Colorado is committed to improving the survival and overall quality of life for patients with genitourinary cancer and we are pleased to have Dr. Maroni on the full-time faculty at our institution. We are committed to excellence in surgery, patient care, and further research in the ever-evolving area of urologic oncology and feel Dr. Maroni provides and important resource to both patients and medical providers in the Rocky Mountain region.
