Student Organizations

American Dental Hygiene Association

The SADHA is a group that offers an opportunity for Dental Hygiene to become involved in the profession while learning our skills. As a member, students will receive professional support, educational programs, and numerous opportunities for participation in association decision making.  The annual membership fee is $55 ($45 - for national dues; $10.00 UC Denver Chapter).   Student members receive subscriptions to the Dental Hygiene, Journal of the American Dental Hygiene Association, and Access.

Colorado Dental Hygiene Association

The Colorado Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA) is to advance the art and science of dental hygiene by ensuring access to quality oral health care, increasing awareness of the cost effective benefits of prevention, promoting the highest standards of dental hygiene education, licensure, practice and research, and representing and promoting the interest of dental hygienists.  For additional information visit CODHA.

Student Council

The Student Council is the voice of the entire University of Colorado Denver School of Dental Medicine student body.  It is involved in planning events, answering questions, solving class problems, and communicating student concerns to the administration.  All dental and dental hygiene students are members of the Student Council.  The Council Executive Committee is composed of the student body officers and each class president.  Meetings are held monthly and elections are held each year in May.  Constitution and bylaws are included in the Student Handbook.

Student Representation on School Committees

Student representatives serve on all standing and ad hoc committees of the school dealing with student and educational issues.  For the standing committees of the School of Dental Medicine Faculty, the students nominate two candidates from the appropriate class for each committee.  The dean selects one of the nominees to fill the position for the next year.  The dean or committee chair of the ad hoc committee appoints students to serve on those committees.

Sorority

Professional sorority life is a part of the School of Dental Medicine activities.  One national dental hygiene sorority is represented through a local chapter:  Beta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Phi Alpha.
