Research Overview
Research at the University of Colorado Denver School of Dental Medicine is a vital component of our mission to become a regional school with a reputation for excellence in research,
education and service in the field of oral health. Our current research activities are focused on both basic science and applied areas related to dental science, oral health and disease, and craniofacial biology.
To further our mission, we have created a Program in Oral and Craniofacial Biology Research for qualified Graduate and Postgraduate trainees.
Basic science research areas include:
- Biomaterials/Bioengineering
- Cancer Biology
- Craniofacial developmental/molecular biology
- Salivary gland biology
Our faculty have joint appointments in basic science departments in the School of Medicine including:
Faculty members are involved in our Program in Oral and Craniofacial Biology Research as well as other Graduate Training Programs including:
They are also members of the University of Colorado Denver Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado Denver Downtown Campus in Boulder.
Clinical research areas include:
- Periodontal disease
- Orthodontics
- Restorative
- Behavioral and Social Sciences
- Cariology
Undergraduate Dental Students have opportunities to participate in the ongoing Student Research Group and in the Summer Research Scholarship Program.
