Summer Research Scholarship Program
Incoming DENTAL students may apply for this 8 week program, which enables students to conduct a research project under the direction of a faculty member in the School of Dental Medicine. A stipend is provided. Depending upon the level of accomplishment, students may have the opportunity to present their research at the annual American Association for Dental Research (AADR) meeting and at other prominent dental research meetings.
AADR Student Research Group
Dental Students are encouraged to join the AADR Student Research Group (Colorado chapter of the National SRG sponsored by the AADR). The program serves to increase the student’s awareness of the importance of research to evidence-based dentistry. Participants are actively involved in research projects, attend research training workshops, and are involved in inviting speakers who present their own research. Participants in the Summer Research Scholarship Program may join the SRG during their first year of dental school. Other students who are in good academic standing may join the SRG at any time.
The local chapter is under the direction of John Cusick, Ph.D. David Quissell, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Research, serves as Program Director.
SRG participants elect officers who are responsible for holding regular business, educational and social meetings to ensure the continuity of the group. Senior SRG officers serve on the Dental Student Research Training Committee.
SRG participants attend national dental research meetings. They complete for the ability to travel to these meetings as well as for cash prizes at UC Denver Anschutz Medical Campus and School of Dental Medicine research forums. The school pays for SRG dues for those engaging in research.
