Research Activities - Graduate Students
Graduate Students at the Anschutz Medical Campus are expected to participate in journal clubs and seminar series pertinent to their specific programs. Some programs offer additional educational experiences such as mini-courses, annual retreats, and local meetings.
The Department of Craniofacial Biology participates in a seminar series, Cells, Development and Cancer, which is also supported by the University of Colorado Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, and the Department of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine. Dr. Trevor Williams is co-director of this series.
The developing Program in Oral and Craniofacial Biology Research will offer additional seminars and journal clubs on both the Anschutz Medical Campus and Downtown Campus in Boulder, and possibly teleconferences between them to further integrate Program participants on both campuses.
Dr. Kristi Anseth and Dr. Kristin Artinger presented at the Molecular Biology Program 2006 Annual Mini-Symposium: Stem Cell Biology; Progress and Potential.
University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus sponsors “Future Directions Career Days” every few years, and all Anschutz Medical Campus students are encouraged to take part in these events. In addition, the Office of Education on campus has developed a “Preparing Future Faculty” program aimed specifically at graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The Graduate School occasionally holds a workshop on “Becoming a Teacher.”
