In recent years, the research program has secured
NIH/NIDCR R24 grant funding for a self-study
of the existing program and development of an Infrastructure Enhancement Plan, and NIH/NIDCR
U24 funding for implementation of the plan. These
funds have enabled the school to hire additional quality research faculty thereby expanding and
developing research programs in areas that directly
support and enhance oral health research.
The School of Dental Medicine boasts a high-quality oral health
research program that has close collaborative activities with
the other schools within the university and provides dental students and graduate students with a high level of visibility and respect within the university.
