The Integrated Clinician’s Course Four (ICC 4):
This portion of the Integrated Clinician’s Course has a theme of “Clinical Knowledge and Skills”. It is our goal to provide you with useful Step 2 review sessions along with small group based curriculum that compliments the content provided by the Clinical Core blocks. We’ve made every effort to provide you with practical, interactive case-based sessions and personal and career development sessions to help guide you in your professional development. We hope to make this as relaxing and interactive as possible as you prepare to move forward into your 4th year. As you know, the class has been divided into two groups, with half of the students on vacation during each of the two weeks of curriculum. Please check the schedule and rosters closely and note that the curriculum is layed out differently in each of the weeks to allow flexibility for faculty schedules.
The General Objectives of IDPT 7004 are:
- To provide students with clinical skills evaluation and testing through the CAPE.
- To provide students with the information and skills necessary for the residency application process.
- To provide students with training in how to sign out a patient and hand them off to colleagues for continuing management.
- To discuss how oral health is related to systemic health and the collaborative role of both physicians and dentists in helping patients with oral health issues.
- To review the pharmacology of the most frequently used antibiotics and drugs used in inpatient adult and pediatric care.
- To provide opportunities to discuss the concepts and skills involved in critical care and trauma.
- To discuss and review strategies for preparing for Step 2 CS/CK exams.
- To provide personal information and counseling about managing student loans.
- To provide time and opportunity for students to reflect on the events and personal/professional growth that have transpired in the last year.
