Communication:

  • Be able to perform a geriatric assessment interview
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate with a patient care-giver
  • Be able to effectively communicate medical information with patients
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, consultants and other professionals
  • Demonstrate effective patient advocacy
  • Demonstrate good communication/listening skills with patients and their families
  • Demonstrate patient-centered communication and collaborative decision making
  • Demonstrate the ability to elicit from patients the values, ideas and feelings which influence the patient/physician relationship and which impact treatment decisions
  • Be able to write an appropriate history and physical examination and SOAP notes for patients.
  • Be able to orally present a patient’s history and physical to colleagues and attendings.
