Student Evaluation of Attendings
Medical students are required to evaluate Attendings, although each Clerkship sets their own requirements about which Attendings should be evaluated. Evaluations are completed in the on-line CoursEval system and are anonymous.
How can I encourage students to evaluate me?
If you have spent a significant amount of time with a student and feel they should evaluate you:
- Ask the student to evaluate you at the end of the time you work with them.
- Give them your card, or
- Have them go to a private computer, log into CoursEval at (http://evals.uchsc.edu) using their Stargate username and password and evaluate you at that time.
You can improve the number and accuracy of your evaluations by providing a jpeg picture to Dianna Unitt (dianna.unitt@uchsc.edu) that she can insert next to your name in the system.
How do I access my evaluations?
When at least 3 students have evaluated you, grades have been submitted, and the Clerkship ends, you will receive an e-mail notification from Dianna that your evaluations are ready to be viewed. The e-mail will also give you a link to the site and remind you to use your e-mail user name and password to access your evaluations.
Remember to keep a copy for your records.
How do I use my evaluation data for promotion?
All Department and Division Chairs will have access to the CoursEval evaluations of their faculty and can obtain them directly. If your Department expects you to provide the information, copy the evaluation reports and submit with your file.
