Assessment
The primary student assessment will continue to be the combination of ward and clinic performance (80%) and the final examination (20%). The Course Director writes the examination for each rotation, based on the department consensus that the students’ understanding can most accurately be assessed by using an exam derived from what the students are actually learning at our hospitals. We also plan to implement an observed standardized clinical assessment (OSCE) on the last day of the rotation when this becomes possible. Student experience logs will be used to document the competencies achieved, and mid-block assessments of competency logging will be maintained.
