Clinical Course/Block Committee:
The block committee wrote new competencies for the proposed curriculum in the fall of 2005. These were implemented for this transitional year 2006-07 and modified as necessary, resulting in the new curriculum for implementation in 2007. The block committee utilized guidelines for a national curriculum obstetrics and gynecology written by the Association of Professors in Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO), the current obstetrics and gynecology clerkship curriculum, and personal experience in education to define the competencies for the block. The content competencies are outlined in the Competency Table attached and were approved by the COC in February 2006. Consultants to the committee reviewed the competencies and made additions or edits based on their associated area of specialization. Student committee members reviewed the course curriculum and all proposed changes, providing input and feedback based on their most recent experiences in obstetrics and gynecology training.
