Educational Technology Mission Statement
- To provide technical support for the setup, maintenance, and repair of laptops and PDA's for School of Medicine students.
- To assist School of Medicine faculty in identifying appropriate technologies for instruction.
- To collaborate with faculty members in the design, development and acquisition of computer-based software and
World Wide Web applications for all Phases of the curriculum.
- To coordinate the planning and acquisition of computer and multimedia technology in support of education.
- To provide technical support in the delivery of e-curriculum activities.

Web Based Applications
- Blackboard - The curriculum/student portal. Blackboard is the SOM onine classroom. Students are expected to log-in everyday. They access thier courses and check announcements here. There are also additional resources in the student communities, including a comprehensive site maintained by the Office of Student Affairs.
- Ilios - The curriculum content management tool. Ilios contains the curriculum for the school of medicine and is a working space for the faculty developing and delivering the curriculum. The SOM curriculum for the first two years of medical school is available here and can be viewed by the public. If you are a faculty member interested in having access to Ilios please email, Helen Macfarlane.
- New Innovations - Medical students use the RMS software to record clinical learning experience. RMS can be accessed on the web or by downloading the software to a PDA from this site.
- Epocrates - Diagnostic software for your PDA. Students of the School of Medicine can download the Epocrates software for free during their time here. For more information contact Vaquero Cooper, or go to the SOM -Students organization in Blackboard.
