Program Description:

-Students will successfully complete the first three years of medical school before beginning business classes.

-The year between the third and fourth year of medical school is spent at the business school.

-The fourth year is spent on clinical rotations.

-The fifth year is spent attending clinical rotations
and business classes.

-Both degrees are awarded at the end of the fifth year
We encourage, and anticipate that all graduates will complete postgraduate residency training in medicine following graduation.

Admission Requirements:

-The MD/MBA program is designed for future physicians who wish to pursue a career in administration or business.

-Applicant will have career goals centered on managing large health service organizations or complex health systems.

-The program is designed to be completed in five years, at which time graduates are awarded the MD/MBA degree.

-Medical Students can submit their MCAT scores instead of taking the GMAT.

Degree Requirements:

To meet the American Assembly of Collegiate School of Business
guidelines, all candidates for the MBA must complete 42 semester hours of course work, including:


BUSN 6520: Managing Teams and Individuals *
BUSN 6530: Data Analysis for Managers
BUSN 6540: Legal and Ethical Environment of Business *
BUSN 6550: Analyzing and Interpreting Accounting Information BUSN 6560: Marketing Management
BUSN 6610: Information Technology Management
BUSN 6620: Applied Economics for Managers *
BUSN 6630: Management of Operations
BUSN 6710: Strategic Management *

*(health section also available)

International Elective (3 credit hours)- any INTB prefix course; students must meet prerequisites for appropriate courses

Free Electives (9 credit hours)- no courses with BUSN prefix below 6800

Medical students participating in the dual degree are usually on a tight schedule. It is very important that you work with the graduate advisors to plan your degree, and enroll early for your classes to ensure space.

 

Tuition:

Students are required to pay full tuition for all courses taken at both the University of Colorado-School of Medicine and the University of Colorado at Denver.
