Rural Track of the MD Program

Colorado Rural Clinics:

A rural health clinic is a primary care clinic that is located in a rural area designated as a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) or a medically underserved area (MUA). Under the law, the clinic must employ either a physician's assistant or a nurse practitioner; must make arrangements with a physician for medical direction, guidance, and supervision; and must make arrangements with a Medicare certified hospital for referral and admission of patients by the clinic.
