Choosing the Right Program

Do You Want to Be a Pharmacist?

See our Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) professional degree program.

The Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) degree program at the CU School of Pharmacy is a full-time, four-year course of study that provides an excellent foundation for a career in pharmacy. The demand for trained pharmacy professionals has dramatically increased in recent years and pharmacists have become more actively involved in drug therapy decision-making for patients of all ages.

Our students are taught how to manage disease states, educate patients and work effectively with other health care practitioners. Through experiential education, active learning and critical skills development, students gain a comprehensive pharmacy background, preparing them for numerous pharmacy practice options upon graduation. Graduates are qualified to practice pharmacy and are eligible for examination for licensure as a pharmacist.

Do You Want to Be a Scientist?

See our Graduate Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Programs.

There are two Ph.D. programs within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences that are currently accepting students: Pharmaceutical Sciences and Molecular Toxicology. The Pharmaceutical Sciences Graduate Program is committed to the application of Pharmaceutics and Medicinal Chemistry to solving problems arising in the field of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.

Do you have a B.S. degree in Pharmacy and are a practicing pharmacist but would like to obtain a Pharm.D. degree?

See our Nontraditional Pharm.D. Program.

The University of Colorado School of Pharmacy offers the doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree for working pharmacists in a part-time, or nontraditional, format. All didactic courses are delivered online, via the Internet. Online courses provide maximal accessibility and flexibility to working pharmacists, and provide opportunities for interaction with the faculty and with the other pharmacists in the program, and for active participation in learning.
