History
The University of Colorado's School of Pharmacy began in 1911 as a division of the School of Medicine on the Boulder campus. It became an independent college in 1913 and a school in 1957. In 1986, the School of Pharmacy was administratively transferred to the University of Colorado Denver campus. Construction began on the newest home of the school in 1990 and the first classes were held in August of 1992. The physical transfer from Boulder and final consolidation of faculty, staff and students was completed between August and November of 1992.
In 2008, the school moved to the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. Here teaching, research and health care are provided in a new urban comprehensive health center. The school currently occupies spaces in separate administrative and research buildings. In the Spring of 2010, the school will move into its new building, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences which will also be located on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
