Helpful Drag and Drop Features in Outlook

Did you know that you can use your mouse to drag and drop email items quickly into your Task List, Calendar or Notes in Outlook?  If you receive an email message with important meeting information or something that you would like to add to your Task List, you may drag and drop the message right into your Task List (a demonstration of this is shown below).  You may also drag email messages directly to your Calendar or Notes and the information will be put on your calendar or on a sticky note in Outlook.  Unfortunately, this feature is not available to Mac users at this time.

Please Note:  The animation will start automatically and repeat.  To restart the demonstration, click reload or refresh on your web browser.

1.  In Microsoft Outlook, highlight the message that you wish to add to your Task List.

2.  Using your left mouse button, click and hold the button on the email you have highlighted and drag your mouse to Tasks.

3.  Let go (drop) the left mouse button and automatically, a Task window will open with that email message added.  Just fill in Dates, names, or change the importance to fit your needs.

4.  Drag and drop to Notes if you would rather add the email message to a sticky note in Outlook or perform the same process with your Calendar.

5.  Be sure to click on Save and Close before leaving Task List, Calendar or Notes.
