Windows Security Tricks

Want to keep you PC more secure? Here are two tips to help you make your PC more secure.

Lock It when you leave it!

Get in the habit of locking your PC when you walk away, even if only for a minute. Press the Windows key (With the Microsoft Symbol) and type the letter L to immediately lock down your computer. Or, if you do not have a Windows key, type CTRL-ALT-DEL and hit enter to lock your  machine. Once you have done this, no one can use your computer until they enter your password to unlock it.

Delete Internet Explorer Saved Passwords

If you have ever answered yes when asked if you want to save a password, Internet Explorer will have a record of that password. If anyone has access to your computer it is best to delete those passwords. Here is how-

  1. Open internet explorer
  2. Click the Tools menu
  3. Select Internet Options
  4. Click the Content Tab
  5. Click the Autocomplete box
  6. Click the Clear Passwords box
  7. If you don't want IE to try save passwords you can deselect the options to autocomplete passwords and to prompt about saving your passwords.
  8. While you are in the Autocomplete window you might also want to clear any form entries you may have saved, so Click the Clear Forms box as well.
  9. If you don't want IE to try save forms information, deselect the option  to autocomplete forms.
  10. Click Okay twice to close the Internet options window.
