Eliminating Autocomplete Form Entries in Internet Explorer
When you fill out online forms, Internet Explorer can remember your entries and the next time you encounter the form, suggest entries for you as you type. This can be helpful, but often times just gets in the way. Also these entries can be a security risk if you have ever accidentally typed your password in the wrong box. Here is how to get rid of these entries and customize the way Internet Explorer handles forms.
- Click and hold the Start button on your desktop
- Choose Settings on the Start menu
- Click Control Panel
- Locate and click to open the Internet Options window
- Choose the Content tab and click the Autocomplete button
- In the resulting window, Click both buttons (Clear Forms and Clear Passwords ) to empty all your Auto Complete entries.
- In this window you can also customize what types of form entries are subject to auto complete, for the most security uncheck all three boxes ( Web Addresses, Forms and Usernames and Passwords on forms)
- Click Okay twice to close the window and save your choices.
Note: This process does not clear the list of addresses in the Internet Explorer Address bar. To clear those entries, Start Internet Explorer, Click Tools, select the General Tab then Click Clear History.
