Clinical Activities:
Practice site: Dr. Marrs is a clinical pharmacy specialist in internal medicine at the Gipson Eastside Family Health Center, one of the Denver Health Community Health Clinics. At this clinic site, Dr. Marrs provides pharmacotherapy consultations that include pharmacotherapy recommendations with a specific focus on cardiovascular and metabolic pharmacotherapy, patient education, and patient follow-up post hospital discharge. Specific areas of clinical expertise include cardiovascular pharmacotherapy (CAD, hypertension, dyslipidemia, heart failure), type 2 diabetes, and respiratory disease (asthma, COPD).
Scholarly Activities:
Dr. Marrs participates in research and other scholarly endeavors focused on cardiovascular and metabolic pharmacotherapy. Recent and ongoing research is in the area of optimizing CV risk reduction pharmacotherapy and improving goal attainment rates. He has also published pharmacotherapy review articles and textbook chapters related to these and other contemporary pharmacotherapy topics.
Professional Service:
Dr. Marrs is the chair-elect of the ACCP Adult Medicine Practice & Research Network (PRN) and a active member of the ASHP Council on Therapeutics. He has a strong professional interest in the expansion of teaching certificate programs/academic training for post-graduate pharmacy residents.
